The Girl in the Woods

On a July day, Drew Morgan sets out for a hike in the Adirondacks but while she is there a microburst comes through obliterating the trail. For five days, Drew wanders alone in the woods, starving, hypothermic, and suffering from an infected wound. Just before she is rescued, she sees in the woods the ghost of a teenage girl.

After her rescue, Drew convinces friends that someone has died in the woods. The next weekend they head out with Search and Rescue dogs and discover the body of Sara Kyzinski, who has been brutally murdered. With her friend Jud Weinstein, a reporter for a local paper, and against the advice of a forest ranger to whom she's attracted, Drew sets out to find Sara's killer, running up against a murderer who is willing to kill again to keep his secret safe.
